Ugh, yes, it's so freaking good. There's probably not anything I can think of that is quite like it, but I'll take a stab.

The first would be any of Terada's (Amok's guitarist/vocalist) other projects. He has a certain songwriting style that shows up in his later bands like The Rainrains and The Anchors. Both are softer than Amok, so they don't have the screamo stuff. But, they are both still really good. The Rainrains "Half Ear" album is on streaming platforms. The Anchors "Answersongs" is also on streaming. Terada also did vocals in KMKMS, but I don't think they fit his style much, tbh.

As for non-Terada projects that might be similar. Allie's "Avalanche" kind of has some of the complexity and melody, with some singing/screaming. They are a bit more chaotic though. Also either one of Mynameis...'s albums seem like comparable, for the same reasons as Allie's.

I think those are probably the best recs I've got so far. Lmk if you like any of them!

Also, I just found something that reminds me alot of AMOK!! you’ve heard it before, but it’s What Ever Film’s s/t album. Really good stuff, I found that band from an Impulse comp :)

It's really funny, because I've listened to all of those albums you mentioned, and they were really amazing! The Rainrains are very similar, and yeah it doesn't have the screamo stuff which is unfortunate because Terada's vocals are great.. Also, it's unrelated, but would you happen to have a rip of "Soundtracks Nocturne Tour" or the Climb The Mind / Discharming Man split? I've been trying to find Nocturne Tour for a while! Thanks

Hi! I Eat Me were short-lived band in the early 2000’s. They only recorded two songs which were released as a CD-r demo. One track from the demo was also included in a compilation from a few years ago mourning the passing of Morimori, the bassist from I Eat Me who also played in a whole lot of other bands. I was able to see them play in 2002 in Osaka, and uploaded two tracks from that show:

I also mentioned them a few times on my old blog (https://sanitizedjapan.blogspot.com/search/label/I%20Eat%20Me?m=0). There’s a zine uploaded there that has an interview with them, which I haven’t translated, but should provide more info.

Let me know if you’re looking for anything else! Thanks for the comment!

Do you have any recs for albums that might sound similar to Emersion Downfall Acoustic? Been seriously obsessed with this album..
